S.Korea eases COVID-19 restrictions on concerts, sports games
South Korea began easing restrictions on large concerts and sports events on Monday after announcing last week it would loosen a series of coronavirus curbs as the country pushes ahead with its vaccination drive. Up to 4,000 people will be allowed to attend K-Pop concerts and other cultural shows from Monday, up massively from a capacity limit of below 100 people since late last year, according to measures announced by health officials on Friday.
Ladakh reports 17 new cases
As per the media bulletin released by the directorate of health services Ladakh, a total of 17 new positive sample reports of Covid were received on Sunday. Out of the total positive reports, 16 were reported in Leh and one in Kargil, they said.
Puducherry logs 309 fresh cases, seven deaths
The 309 new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 7,657 swabs during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday, Director of Health S Mohan Kumar said. The overall tally of COVID-19 cases in the union territory stood at 1,12,837 while total recoveries were at 1,06,199 after 686 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours.

UK PM expected to extend lockdown to July 19
On Sunday, the UK recorded 7,490 new cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths, with the seven-day average for cases up 49 per cent compared with the seven days before. Scientists and health officials have called for a delay in lifting all social distance norms in order to allow the vaccination programme to gain further ground, with second doses for the older age groups and first doses for the younger population cohorts of over-25s now eligible for jabs.
America's Montana sees more deaths than births for the first time
The Independent Record newspaper based in Helena, capital city of Montana, reported on Sunday that early and provisional data from the state's health department showed that the mortality rate increased by 14 per cent in 2020 to 12,018 deaths, surpassing the 10,791 births.

Delta variant may have mutated to drug resistant Delta+
According to Public Health England, an executive agency of the UK government's health and social care department, 63 genomes of Delta (B.1.617.2) with the new K417N mutation had been identified so far on the global science initiative GISAID. In its latest report on Covid-19 variants, updated till last Friday, India had reported six cases of Delta+ as of June 7.
